I love VIDEO GAMES. For me, they are the best THING to happen in the digital world. The video game industry in the world is in fact is much larger than the Hollywood and as well as the international music industry. People of all ages play them , even some of the elders do. Some play them casually and there are some who are hardcore gamers. There are people who are in opinion that video games are a utter waste of our valuable time. But I beg to differ. For Passionate video gamers including me, they are not just tools for entertainment as there is so much more to them than that. Ever since they came out , they have been evolving. Gone are the days when they were all about scoring points. Now it has become a great platform for story telling, for communicating concepts, for showcasing ideas and creativity. Having said that , there are some serious consequences in case you play more than you should. For example, it can make you antisocial, it can make you lazy and hell it can also make you forget the outside world as you know it. But it can only make you those when you overplay. Now lets talk about the bright side of video gaming . You may not believe but it has been scientifically proven that video games make people more efficient in decision making. Take First Person shooter games , these games can improve your eyesight. So the bottom line is playing them is not bad but overplaying them is.
Now lets talk about video gaming in India. How people perceive it in India? Sadly there is very less scope for it in this country. It is indeed very hard to sell video games in India. If you ask about video games to the masses here, the best they could be able relate to would be the genre of car racing and sports (for example Need for Speed and FIFA). They could also be able to relate to Grand Theft Auto but that's it. Really that is it. Very few would be there to tell you that they have played games which have given them more than just enjoyment, like if that they had an experience which is undefinable. I think people should explore different genres of video gaming and which upon doing so will expose them to experiences like no other. OK its understandable that people have their own specific set of taste but what's bad in trying.
So coming to the next question is there any demand for video games in India? Well if you ask me about console gaming , then its share in India is very less. But when it comes to PC gaming , then yes, there are some who demand them but not in form of any legit copy. Most of them either download it from the internet or get them from their friends. So I think better question is there any demand of legit video gaming in India? The answer is very less. That is the reason finding a video game store in any locality in India is very challenging. Unless you stay in metropolitan city, than there is hard luck for you to find any legit video game store selling legit copies. I can give you my example. I happened to visit Bhubaneswar . It is where I decided to purchase a PC game from a store which was in fact a reputed digital store in the city. Then I came back to where I am currently staying which is the city of Raipur only to find out that it was not a legit copy. I was shocked.I mean how can such a big reputed store cheat any of their customers. Now they won't give me my refund because I failed to return them the copy within the 7 days of return policy period. How the heck did I screw that up?Because I did not try their product the day I bought it as I have my computer in my home which is in Raipur .So the next day I had to leave for Raipur which is almost 600 kms away from Bhubaneswar. It was the third day when I tried the product to find out later it was not legit. I tried to contact immediately but it was the next day when I was able to establish contact with them successfully. They told me to send that immediately. I then did send it back to them through courier but it did not reach them on time. Now they are like they don't give a S#!T.
Anyways I tried ordering it from the E commerce companies ,from the web. But they say their sellers don't ship them in my location. I mean seriously. My house is situated near the highway which connects the two cities of Raipur (Capital) and Bhillai. The distance between them is hardly 30 kms and I stay right near the middle between the cities. I am so fed up with these guys.
So in the end I did not get my game . My brothers says Video gaming in India sucks? I don't want to agree but?
So guys let me know what thoughts you have about video gaming. And bytheway the video game which i was looking for is "Assasins's Creed Unity". If you happen to come across any LEGIT store which sells LEGIT copies of that game, please let me know.
